3rd grade Parent's Day

I really enjoyed showing off my third graders and all their hard work they did this year to their parents.  We shared their invention ideas, commercials and displays.  They also viewed a couple of video clips from class.  The kids also had fun challenging their parents to some brainteasers:)  It was fun.

Thank you for coming!!  We enjoyed it!

4th Grade Visits Jekyll Island!!

4th graders had a blast at Jekyll Island!  It is such a fun trip!  We learned and saw so much.  Here are a few pictures that show some of our adventures:

Out of the 50 students that came, we were divided into small groups of 10.  We were the Barnacles!  Every time the bell rang, we reported to this area for classes to begin.

This class was the Forest where we learned about plants and how a forest survives on an island.  We are pictured climbing on an old oak tree over 100 years old.

This was our Beach class.  It was super windy and a little rainy!  We looked for shells and learned about the importance of  protecting sand dunes and sea animals.

We visited the Georgia Sea Turtle Center where we learned a ton about sea turtles!  We also visited the sea turtle hospital where they are helping injured sea turtles return to the wild.

I think the students really enjoyed the shark dissecting class!  We learned about sharks, why they are important, and discovered some amazing things while dissecting!

The North End class is where we saw erosion first hand.  Jekyll Island is shrinking on one side of the island and growing on the other!

Ornithology classes is where we used high powered binoculars to hunt for birds and other wildlife.  We even saw a alligator while we were there!

This is our group, the Barnacles, and pictured behind us is the bus that took us to these amazing places.

Here we are in Marsh class!  We caught crabs, got mud facials, and learned about the importance of a Marsh.  (This was also a class favorite)

There were many more classes and activities that we enjoyed such as s'mores, talent show, holding snakes and turtles, and canteen time.  It's a trip they will never forget!  We had a great time!!
