Dylan wins 1st place in Drawing for 3rd-6th grade division... Congratulations Dylan!!

5th grade: Statue Worthy

 We have been studying monuments and memorials of worthy events and people in the United States. 

Assignment:  Choose a person that you think is worthy of their own statue, monument or memorial and why.  Here are some people that the 5th grade students chose:

Wilma Rudolph (Olympic gold medalist), Joe Lewis (boxer), Madame CJ Walker (Hair product inventor),  Elijah McCoy (Science engineer), Jackie Robinson (baseball player) , and Mae Jemison (astronaut)

4th Grade Parents come to Visit

Thank you 4th grade parents for all of your support this year!   Such a great group of kids that I know you are proud of!





Finished Paper Mache' Fish:

We finally finished the long process of paper mache' fish making and the 4th graders really outdid themselves!!  Check out the final product:

Then we took our fish that we studied and made and painted it into our Oceanography mural....They did a super job. Such artists!!

4th grade shares their Ocean ABC books with the K4 and K5...

After finishing all our amazing ocean projects, we decided to share some of them with the younger students.  (K4-K5) We shared amazing facts about our ocean unit and read in small groups our Ocean ABC book!  It was fun and the little kids loved it as much as we did!

5th grade D.C.'s Monuments and Memorials Quilt

Students were responsible for drawing and researching about their chosen monument or memorial.  Then we combined them into a learning quilt.

Hopefully we will be able to go visit in 2015!1

Chess Tournment Winners!!

We have learned chess since the beginning of the 3rd grade school year and recently had a chess competition between all the 3rd grade Gifted classes in the county.  I am proud to announce that Eastside and Five Points both placed in the tournament.  Great Job!!
