4th grade: Visits West Point Lake Floating Classroom

West Point Lake Floating Classroom

The new West Point Lake Floating Classroom  has dramatically expanded the reach of CRK’s floating classroom program.  Educators onboard theMiss Sally – a custom-built 42-foot vessel – will engage students of all ages in a variety of hands-on activities that highlight the challenges facing the Chattahoochee River, a source of drinking water and recreation for millions of people in Georgia and Alabama.
4th grade CCATS group at the lake.

All buckled in and ready to ride!

Had to take a selfie with these two ;)

As we sail along the river we hear many cool facts about water conservation.

Our very spacious pontoon boat
We are measuring the Turbidity of the lake water.

Our guide demonstrates measuring Turbidity

Testing lake water with chemicals.  Is the pH level safe?

Activity on how much water is on the planet

Activity to show how Riparian Buffer helps our lakes.

This activity demonstrates how our water treatment plant cleans our lake water.

Which water treatment plant did the best? Which water is the cleanest?

Super fun lakeology game (kinda like Jeopardy)

4th grade: Ocean Currents

Not only fun, but tons of learning singing along with this Ocean Currents song.  The students starting sitting down, but then had to stand because this song requires some dancing also :)

3rd grade Inventions: ICECREAM

Third graders learned about how ice cream (among other inventions) was invented and then put together a recipe of their own.  All we can say is "YUM!  I scream you scream we all scream for icecream"  We are glad this was invented :)
