5th grade Criminology Wrap Up

After 6 weeks of studying Criminology we put all that learned knowledge to use by creating our own Whodunnit booklet complete with suspects, crime scene, evidence, and solutions. They should be bring them home soon, so see if you can solve their crime and remember, don't jump to conclusions:)

They are ready for their new unit on Washington, D.C....coming soon!

4th Grade Fish Kits

4th graders learned all about parts of a fish and what they do.  Here's a song that they learned to help them remember all the fins of a fish.

Dorsal, Pectoral, Pelvic, Caudal, Pelvic, Caudal
Dorsal, Pectoral, Pelvic, Caudal, Pelvic, Caudal
Lateral Line, Operculum and Gills
Dorsal, Pectoral, Pelvic, Caudal, Pelvic, Caudal
And don't forget the anal fin ;)

Students were given playdough, fins, and a numbered descriptive paragraph (no picture)  and they were to build the fish described matching up the correct fins, body shape, and tails and then check the number with the picture to see how close they followed directions.  These students did AWESOME. 5TH grade discovers Lafayette's Criminology System

5th graders recently got the opportunity to visit the Criminology Dept. in Lafayette, Al.  We were able to hear about many exciting things that go on in the crime world and got to ask MANY questions to Detective Rollins.

Then Major Farris took us to a tour of the Jail where we learned a lot and again asked many questions!

Last, we stopped by the public library and with our newly acquired skills on criminology, we helped solve the crime of the missing lunch.

4th grade Georgia Aquarium Adventures

What an adventure we had at Atlanta's Georgia Aquarium!!! It houses more than 100,000 animals, representing 500 species, all of which reside in 10 million US gallons of marine and fresh water, and was the world's largest aquarium when it opened in 2005.  We also got to experience the 4D Undersea Water show, The Dolphin Tales show, and a special "behind the scenes" tour of the aquarium. We had a blast!!

Our whole Chambers County Gifted 4th grade group who attended:)

Here's our group from Five Points and Eastside ;)
